Sr Planning Engineer – Facade Contractor KSA

Position Title: Senior Planning Engineer

Department: Projects / Planning & Controls

Reporting to: Project Director / Planning Manager

Location: Eastern KSA

Position Overview:

The Senior Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules for façade works, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives. The role involves close coordination with project managers, site teams, design, procurement, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of façade systems. The candidate must possess strong planning, analytical, and leadership skills, with solid experience in façade engineering and construction.

Key Responsibilities:

Planning & Scheduling

• Prepare baseline programs, resource-loaded schedules, and detailed work breakdown structures (WBS) specific to façade works.
• Develop micro-level façade installation programs aligned with main contractor’s master schedule.
• Identify critical activities, monitor progress, and prepare recovery/mitigation plans as needed.
• Forecast manpower, material, and equipment requirements for façade works.

Monitoring & Reporting

• Track project progress against the approved baseline, highlight variances, and propose corrective measures.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and look-ahead programs.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and adherence to schedules.
• Provide delay analysis, extension of time (EOT) justifications, and claims support where required.

Coordination & Interface Management

• Liaise with design, procurement, fabrication, logistics, and installation teams to align schedules.
• Ensure seamless coordination between façade contractor and main contractor / client program.
• Monitor long-lead items such as glass, aluminum, and cladding systems to avoid delays.
• Interface with consultants and clients for progress presentations and planning submissions.

Risk & Change Management

• Identify risks impacting façade project timelines and develop mitigation strategies.
• Evaluate variation orders and change requests, integrating them into the program.
• Support project management in contractual and commercial matters related to planning.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• Minimum 8–12 years of experience, with at least 5 years in façade contracting / specialist works.
• Strong expertise in Primavera P6 and MS Project; proficiency in MS Office.
• Solid knowledge of façade systems (curtain wall, cladding, glazing, aluminum, steel).
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, interfaces, and site constraints.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
